Okay, so it's mid-afternoon and I'm already blogging about the holiday. That's because we are done, except for watching the city's display tonight. And I won't take pictures of that. I'm also posting now to get the pics off my camera because Will got me a new card for it. I can now take like 1,000 pics instead of 60
We are totally alone as our little(?) family this year. No one wanted to celebrate with us. So, we did it ourselves.

We went to the parade this morning. It was okay. If you like old cars and four wheelers. Not much else to say about the actual parade. But the kids get the concept that the parade is more lucrative than Halloween; as far as candy is concerned. We got set up and had to wait a while before it actually started. By the time it started, Amelia had just calmed down and relaxed on Will's lap. After it really got going though, she noticed all these kids running out and picking stuff up.
Then, she realized it was CANDY!
She was off...She ran down the edge of the street grabbing it up. If it wasn't thrown right in front of us, she went and got it. I think she got more than the other three. It was pretty funny. (Also, notice her first french braids. I've tried before but her hair is so slippery!)
We came home and after a while of eating taffy we decided it was time to make our own ice cream. I have been promising Calvin all summer that we would make it in ziploc bags. That was a mostly successful project. the recipe said it made one scoop and it was more than I thought it would make. One good-sized scoop.
Will and I made old fashioned banana splits. I don't remember the last time I had one of those. The kids did not think it appropriate to have a banana with their ice cream.
So what's left, only the fireworks tonight. If I stay awake long enough for them. More pictures on flickr

Looks like you had a fun, semi-quiet holiday this year. We watched fireworks at the base Friday night and didn't get back to the hotel until almost 11pm. THAT was fun.
