Goodbye Babes!

For people that have known me for a long time, meaning forever or close to it, it comes as quite a shock for them to find out that I have four kids. Especially within such a short time span. A few weeks ago, my mother mentioned that my uncle was surprised that I had four kids. My reply was something to the effect of "I am shocked every day when I wake up that I have four kids". My close friend from high school was surprised when I got pregnant the second time; my first two kids being 16 months apart. You see, I was never "baby hungry". Growing up, I never asked to hold other people's babies. I'm just not the ooh-aahh kind of female. And yet, I had four kids in less than five years. It took me a while to figure out how that was happening.

Now, as the baby of the famliy turns one year old, (for there will be no more) I am prepared, to say goodbye to all things baby. My body got tired of carrying babies, the last pregnancy was not the picnic the first three were. My breasts also got tired of being a food source; so they quit working as well. And now, we have said goodbye to the formula. Oh happy day! No more bottles. Someday- in the future- no more diapers. Although, I can't actually picture a day without diapers in the house. Can it really happen?

I am looking forward to the next phase of things. The school, the baseball, the dance class, and all of those other things that keep moms running around town frantically with never enough time. I have been a mom that has gone an entire 7 days without leaving the house before. I just don't get out very often. I know this is about to change and I am excited for it to change. It just might be very odd for me at first. Can you drop kids off at school while still wearing pajama pants? If not, I am in trouble.

Amelia, the baby, will still qualify as a baby for a few more months. But as the walking begins and the bigger she gets, I think, I just might survive the baby phase after all. I have not always been able to say that. It gives me a little bit of hope. Her first birthday, the 24th, will truely be a celebration!!

No diapers is wonderful!!! Most of the time. Just get past the accident phase, too. I'm going to have to start practicing changing diapers before this next one comes along in a couple months!
