Wow, since last week, I have been busy. It's all over now though. Summer break is here and we are home-bodies.
So last week I had to make that costume and attend two programs. Plus we were planning our weekend party thing. What a bummer. All day Saturday it rained. Not heavy, but still raining. I have not seen it rain so consistently since I moved here. Our plans got canceled. I'm convinced that the "planning" part is where I went wrong. I should keep to doing things more spur-of-the-moment. That's what we usually do. We couldn't use the bounce house in the rain, so it sat in the yard. I was quit disappointed. I was really looking forward to it. We get so little socialization with other adults.
On to Sunday. It's Amelia's birthday. She is two years old. It's very exciting!! I can almost imagine a house without diapers as a regular thing. Almost. That is one of my summer goals. Anyway, she's adorable. I have never taken the time to enjoy a 2 yr old before. As I have always had a new baby to deal with by the time someone turned two. She has not been much of a talker until this last month or so. And she prefers phrases to single words. Some of her favorites: "I want that." "Not me." (This one comes out when we are asking who did something and she joins in with the other three.) This morning she copied Calvin in saying "I don't want to go to church." This one was not enunciated all too well, but that's what she was saying. She loves shoes; has for months. She still drags her blanket around everywhere, just like Linus. Note how happy she looks above, with her play heels and her blankie.
She is a crazy, fun little girl and we love her.
If we could only get her to stop squealing whenever something is not as she wants it. Go to flickr for more of our weekend pictures.

I can't believe it's been 2 years. The kids don't remember/know her as grown up at all. They still think of her as Baby Amelia. Happy Birthday to the last McFarland!! :)
