It is Valentine's Day. I think we all know. We (I) tend to be a little casual about celebrating things sometimes, this included. I get overwhelmed when I try to plan. Okay, I love planning stuff, the kids just always throw a wrench into things. Anyway, the relationship part was great. I have beautiful roses, chocolates, a nice dinner out (well, in; but takeout). Totally satisfied.
My problem with this holiday comes from the kids/school part. I am the only mother who didn't attach some sort of candy to the Valentine's my kids took to their classes. Do they really need more candy? Not my kids.
What I remember about classroom V-day parties is having some sort of treat (a cupcake, a cookie) and then handing out our little cards (in envelopes-which I'm glad not to be dealing with). We had one treat and the cards.
So, when did it become as big as Halloween? I'm sorry if my kids are in your class because I don't know if I'll ever give in on this. I don't see where it's necessary. More candy?? Really? Didn't we just get done with Christmas and all that? I might try a pencil or some stickers or something. I can only imagine how hyped-up my kids would be if they kept all the candy to themselves. At least, they come home and split it four ways.
There's my little rant. I'll try to understand next year- maybe. I'll just go broke giving in to the pressure and attaching candy to every little card. When all four kids are in school, I will really be broke from it.

I'll spare you my feelings on the little tattoos that come with some of the valentines.
