I have never been so glad to see my house. It's been a long time since we left; three weeks tomorrow.
The trip home was long, but without major problems. We almost lost our car-topper thing in Arkansas. I stress about the thing anyway, so I would check on it periodically. One of the bungee-things popped off. We heard that. We pulled off onto the side of the interstate. So not fun. I hated that! Will's out there half-way onto the roof of the car and traffic is just flying by. Scary! That didn't fix the problem though and we ended up pulling into a rest area shortly thereafter to just take the thing off and put everything into the car. My stress level went down after that.
We tried out a book on CD and that was interesting. I think I prefer just to read, but it was good to help us keep awake in those wee hours of the mornings. We couldn't listen to it AND have a movie for the kids on at the same time.
We got totally soaked in Kansas. A storm broke out in 2o seconds and we were drenched; completely. Bad timing for a potty stop. The winds were horrible for most of Kansas and Colorado. There was some snow up in the mountains, but not too bad. There were only a few spots with packed slush to go through. Our car said the outside temp was 15 while we were up there. I'm just glad it wasn't worse.
Calvin moaned and complained all the way home, yep three days. "I hate Richfield!" He had never said he hated anything before. Even he conceded that he was glad to be home though. It only took him 30 minutes after getting here to say so. Thank goodness for being back home and hopefully getting back to normal.
There really is no place like home. My hair is totally flat and I'm using lotion every other hour.
