I will just share a couple of funny stories.
Today is Mardi Gras.
I have fond memories from our days in Semmes of this holiday and it's pure fun involvement.
Since I'm not Catholic, I don't have any of the real religious connotations to go along with it.
I just like the party-like atmosphere and the moon pies and the beads.
Since moving out west, I have explained this holiday to the kids each year and I usually try to "celebrate" it in some way. I always forget to order beads though. :( maybe next year...
We have done a King Cake for the past three years and this year's was the best yet. I have used a different recipe each year. Boy, the loved this one. I even put two "babies" in it this year, you know, to spread the good luck. Julie got one, Will got the other.
We had it for breakfast since the dough was very similar to biscuit dough.
Julie was bordering on sick when she left for school...4 pieces....
Happy Fat Tuesday!!!
The other little story is from about two weeks ago. I do not consider myself to be very feminine. However, one fine day I proved myself a female driver. Our driveway has this nice pitch to it at the top. People continually ask how we are able to get out of here during the winter....when it's all snow and packed ice. Will never has a problem. I sometimes do. The trick is, you can't stop or get to slow where the pitch really rises. Which is fine...if no vehicles are coming from either direction.
Well, this one day, we still had a few inches of ice to drive over, but I needed to go to the post office.
And a car was coming...so I had to stop.
I went nowhere when I tried to go again, expect the back end of the van slid a bit to one side.
So, I decided to back up a little and gain some movement.
Except, no being crooked, I went a bit on/over the edge. It's all white, who can really tell?
Okay, so I know when I'm beat.
Thanks to modern technology, I called Will, from our yard, and he was able to fix things without further stress or flipping the van. It did slide a bit while I was out and he was getting in.
I do not leave the house when it's winter. See why?
There are other reasons, too.
